This is another contemporary blog from me.
Projects are they really necessary for kids ??
Well, first let me tell you all what are academic projects. They are a collection of different files which discuss about a particular idea or issue. They are a student's hard work and usually based on extra-academic information. Students are given projects to 1) Test their comprehension and liking of the subject 2) Test how hard he worked to gather matter for a particular topic and 3) Test the input i.e. how did he present the project.
Almost all schools introduce projects which sometimes also form a part of their exam results. It is seen that projects are very good, especially for weak students who cannot score much in written exams, class tests, assignments and vivas. However, today i deliberately question on the efficacy of projects.
My point is that there can be some disadvantages as well.
1)No real test of IQ or EQ (Emotional Quotient)
2) Students do the projects for the sake of doing it-not because they like doing it. They never learn anything from it. Instead, they find it boring and a burden alongside such a vast syllabus
3) Searching for matter is damn difficult and more than 75% of the students don't know the art of putting it down.
4)Some students even resolve to morally and even lawfully unfair means while doing a project. For example:
- C2D (sharing the hard work by different students so that work gets done easily. Teachers dont really come to know that work of one has been copied from another.
- Patent rights are hampered also. Students illegally copy their work from others or information from internet without proper information.
Hence, I don't really think projects are of much use in this generation. Please comment and you are all free to disagree ( I presented my version )
